Fourth-year CDT student Victor Ngo (2022 cohort) recently took part in a panel discussion at the Nottingham Puppet Festival, where he spoke about social robotics, robotics and art alongside CDT supervisor Ayse Kucukyilmaz.
The talk looked at how people interact with robots and why movement, expression and behaviour are important in shaping those interactions. It also explored what robotics researchers can learn from puppetry and the value of working with people from creative backgrounds.
The discussion continued with questions from the audience, covering topics such as the future of human-robot interaction, robotics in the arts and the importance of collaboration between different disciplines.
