CIPD Applied Research Conference (ARC) annually brings together Human Resources practitioners and academic researchers to discuss cutting-edge HR research and how it might be applied in practise. Last week two Horizon CDT students had the opportunity to present at CIPD ARC.

Vincent Bryce (2019 cohort) presented his study We need to talk about digital HR ethics! A review of the academic literature on ethical aspects of algorithmic Human Resource Management (HRM) technologies. Vincent’s study aims to determine the extent to which ethical aspects of algorithmic human resource management (HRM) technologies have been examined in academic literature.

Emma Gentry (2021 cohort) presented her first poster at the conference. Emma’s poster Does my employer care, or is this another box to tick? Employees’ perceptions towards mental wellbeing platforms in the workplace includes preliminary findings from her first study and looks at attitudes and values towards the introduction of wellbeing platforms within the workplace. Emma was awarded the 2023 Poster Prize for best research poster.
