The Science of Blade Runner was held at Broadway Cinema Nottingham (an Horizon CDT partner organisation) on 18 October and brought science to the city venue by by featuring speakers with a research background and expertise in themes present in the films (and the original novel) including synthetic biology, genetic engineering, biotextiles, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Martin Porcheron, who is currently writing up his thesis, was able to include some of the Amazon Echo audio data he has collected as part of his research, within his talk about how we communicate with the Echo’s Alexa voice based service.
