The ACM FAccT* Conference brings together a diverse community of scholars from computer science, statistics, law, social sciences, education and humanities to investigate and tackle rising issues.
The third annual FAccT* Conference was held in Barcelona in January 2020 and ran a doctoral consortium to offer PhD students doing research on fairness, accountability and transparency the opportunity to engage with experienced researchers regarding their PhD research and career paths.
At the consortium, Staninslaw Piasecki (2018 cohort) was able to present what he has done so far in terms of his PhD work on the topic of “how legal frameworks, in particular data protection law, work in practice when developing and deploying smart devices used by vulnerable people”.
