After successfully defending his PhD in 2022, Gustavo transitioned to industry, joining Ocado Technology as a User Experience (UX) Researcher. In this role, he has contributed to the development of cutting-edge software, hardware, and robotics solutions.
Gustavo leads research initiatives across an entire department, conducting studies in supermarkets and customer fulfilment centres both in the UK and internationally. His work encompasses long-term exploratory research, as well as high-priority projects focused on developing innovative products and new revenue streams for the company.
In addition to project-based contributions, Gustavo has also improved research practices and the strategy within the organisation by delivering training courses, facilitating feedback sessions, and developing tools and procedures to streamline research processes. He has also proposed and executed research projects aimed at improving product design with minimal engineering effort, ensuring practical and impactful solutions.
Beyond his professional role, Gustavo is an active member of the UX community. He engages with the Quantitative User Experience Association, where he has organised watch parties for the annual conference and presented his work to fellow professionals.
