Round Two: Bogna Presents Ongoing PhD Research at Advances in Data Science and AI Conference

On 9th June 2025, second-year PhD researcher Bogna Liziniewicz presented a poster at the Advances in Data Science and AI Conference at the University of Manchester — her second time sharing insights from her first doctoral study.

The conference is Manchester’s annual event that brings together researchers to share new ideas and discoveries. It’s a chance to learn about the latest developments and to talk about the big questions society is asking about how we use data and AI.

Conducted in collaboration with her industry partner b:friend, Bogna’s study uses machine learning classification to identify the key factors that contribute to successful befriending schemes for older adults—an intervention aimed at reducing loneliness and promoting wellbeing.

Bogna described the opportunity to contribute to the conversation around digital innovation and social good as a rewarding experience:

“Glad to be able to contribute a tiny part to using these digital innovations for social good!”

Her participation highlights the growing role of data science in addressing complex social challenges and builds on her ongoing research impact.
