Horizon CDT Sponsors Game Changer London: A Day of Innovation, Insight and Community

The Horizon CDT proudly sponsored Game Changer London, a vibrant one-day conference that brought together over 350 attendees to explore the future of technology, cybersecurity, data and digital transformation.

Held on 8 May 2025 at the legendary Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA – a historic London venue known for championing creativity and bold ideas) – the event united visionaries, innovators and industry leaders who are actively shaping the digital landscape of tomorrow.

Game Changer London featured two dynamic stages that catered to both broad visionary thinking and hands-on innovation:

🔶  IMPACT STAGE – DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND CYBERSECURITY
This stage focused on practical aspects of digital transformation, innovation, and securing digital futures. Topics included:

    • AI-driven services and automation
    • Building cyber resilience for the future
    • Smart cities, future workplaces, and connected communities
    • How startups grow into market leaders

🔷  AI STAGE
This stage focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence across industries. Topics included:

    • The evolving role of AI in various sectors
    • Ethical considerations in AI development
    • AI applications in business and government
    • The future of AI-powered services and solutions

The programme was packed with thought-provoking keynotes, dynamic debates and networking opportunities designed to challenge conventional thinking and spark cross-sector collaboration.

Special thanks to photographer Charlotte Joplin for capturing moments of the day so beautifully — photos below.

The conference also saw a strong turnout from the Horizon CDT and University of Nottingham communities, with many CDT alumni, current students and UoN colleagues contributing as speakers, moderators, panelists and participants, adding to the richness and depth of the day’s discussions. Special thanks go to Dr. Vanja Ljevar (CDT alum and co-founder of Kubik Intelligence) for her pivotal role in organising the event.

Game Changer is part of a growing international series of events, having already made an impact in Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. Its UK debut marks an exciting new chapter—and we were proud to be part of it.

The conference closed in true London fashion, with alumni and students catching up over drinks at a nearby pub, extending the day’s conversations into the evening. It was a fitting end to an event full of insight, energy and community spirit.

We’re thrilled to support initiatives like Game Changer London that bring our research community into dialogue with global innovation leaders. Here’s to the next one!
