Webinar – Breaking Barriers: Navigating Gender Rights in African Legal Landscape – 23 May 204
Lawyers Hub and UNESCO have put together a series of webinars about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) affects women working in law and as judges in Africa. These webinars will look at the challenges and opportunities AI brings to the legal system, especially for women judges, and how it affects justice in Africa. They also aim to create a community of legal professionals who understand the connections between gender, AI and technology in Africa.
Second-year Horizon CDT student Favour Borokini has been invited to speak in the webinar on “Gender Rights in African Legal Landscapes”. Talks from the panellists will revolve around the laws, challenges and opportunities for improving gender rights in African legal systems.
The discussions and viewpoints shared during the webinar series will be used to create a report called “Gender Perspectives on Law and AI in Africa.” This report will be launched at the Africa Law Tech Festival 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The report will help develop practical solutions and future actions to increase women’s involvement in legal technology in Africa.
