Congratulations to Roma Patel (2013 cohort) who has successfully been awarded the degree of PhD for her thesis entitled The Makers of Imaginary Worlds – Interactive Scenography in Theatre for Early Years. Roma was supervised by Boriana Koleva, Holger Schnädelbach and Patricia Thomson.
As a scenographer and digital artist, Roma is currently an Artistic Fellow with the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity working on an installation for the upcoming Festival that will be held in early 2021.
Roma is also the co-founder and artistic director of the Nottingham based company Makers of Imaginary Worlds and has started a new project called ‘The Gift’ which is supported by Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC). ‘The Gift’ will work with parents and children under 5 to develop an online resource to help unlock storytelling skills.
For the next two weeks, Roma will be working on research and development for a new interactive installation called ‘Thingamabobas‘ using touchless technologies, AI, and robotics as a response to the current situation.
